Hi, y’all!
We had a good showing on Saturday, 267 people strong.
No Kings Prep
We’re preparing for the next big No Kings protest on October 18th, so join us tomorrow at the Drinking Liberally event (Mike has some exciting info on that below).
In June we had 2,000+ patriots for the last No Kings Day; I wouldn’t be surprised if we have 3,000+ this time.
Car Pools/Rideshare
Given the massive surge in protesters we are expecting, it would be wise to try and arrange a car pool for transportation or book a Southwest Prime ride for the 18th. Parking is likely to be brutal.
Growing Our Ranks
The national organizations are promoting the No Kings Day, so please start promoting our own event now, while it is top-of-mind due to national efforts and the continuing disaster that is the administration.
We’ve got a No Kings Social Media Kit page with videos and images you can use to promote our event.
If you want photos, check out the album of Paul’s photos here.
Volunteers
We could use all the help we can get on the 18th. Here are the roles we need help with:
Security to keep an eye on everything and ensure we have an orderly and peaceful event
Helpers/Greeters to make newcomers feel welcome, explain how we conduct ourselves, help older folks as needed, and pass out water
First Aid: Anyone with medical training to assist in the event of a health incident
ACTION ALERT: Drinking Liberally This Tuesday is Our Launchpad to a POWERFUL Protest
Hey Liberally Crew,
Get ready for an energetic and essential night this Tuesday, October 7th, 6:30 to 8:00. This isn’t just another night for bites and drinks, this is our final, crucial huddle before we launch the No Kings protest on the 18th!
We need your thoughts, your creativity, and your strategic input to make this protest the most impressive one yet. Let’s make this Tuesday the jumping off point for a POWERFUL action.
The Triple-Threat Agenda for Tuesday Night
We’re kicking off the evening with three important action items. Please grab a drink and a bite, then join the discussion for the first half hour:
1. Level Up Our Local Hangout (Robert Needs Your Ideas)
Our amazing host, Robert, wants to make our time together even better. He’s got some ideas to make getting your food and drink faster and easier and he wants your feedback and suggestions. It’s awesome to have a host who’s committed to making things better for our community, so please come and share your input.
2. Art & Action: Sign Making Extravaganza
We’re turning passion into protest signs. We’ll have two tables available for sign making, complete with blank signs and art supplies to get you started.
Feel free to bring any extra supplies you have, too. We’ll also have an excellent sign-making handout from Amy of Eden Prairie Indivisible to inspire your visual masterpieces. We’re hoping Sally (of the sign library) will show up and give us some of her fantastic tips as well.
3. Connect the Line: Building Protest Camaraderie
The protest on the 18th is going to be big, stretching along Highway 41 from the Hazeltine corner to the Pioneer Trail end. We want the energy to be unified and connected across the entire line.
I’m going to share six simple, fun ideas designed to create camaraderie and connect everyone involved. After I present the concepts, our intrepid leader Judith and I will lead a discussion to get your immediate feedback on which ideas are worth pursuing. We need your wisdom to ensure our line is not just loud, but truly connected.
This Is The One You Can’t Miss
The most successful movements are built on community, clear messaging, and a whole lot of heart. This Tuesday, October 7th, is our last chance to organize, create, and inspire each other before we take our stand on the 18th.
Come ready to chat, craft, debate, and strategize. Let’s make the “No Kings” protest a powerful statement that everyone remembers.
See you all Tuesday!
Mike
