This Saturday
Food drive for baking supplies & ICE preparedness
A note from Judith:
Hello everyone!
Food Drive This Saturday
This weekend’s food drive focuses on baking supplies:
Cooking oils,
Shortening,
Flour,
Sugar,
Baking soda/powder,
Baking mixes (muffins, brownies, etc.), and
Single-serve snacks for kids, such as granola bars
I also spoke with Bountiful Baskets yesterday; they shared that they are especially short on feminine hygiene products.
To drop off donations, drive past Aldi and follow the signs to the collection area in front of the dental office.
Note: There will be no coffee or treats this Saturday but we’ll be back next week.
Community Safety & ICE-Related Updates
As David has pointed out, recent events involving ICE in St. Paul and Northfield remind us that we need to be prepared should similar actions occur here.
Andie, who leads the Waconia protest, and I will be handing out whistles along with a flyer explaining what you can do in these situations.
I’m also coordinating with an organization to set up an informational meeting for anyone who wants to learn how we can protect our neighbors. I’ll update you when details are confirmed.
Additionally, we will be circulating a petition on Saturday urging the Carver County Sheriff’s Office not to sign a contract allowing ICE to use county facilities for detaining individuals.
I can’t wait to see you all on Saturday.

I'm so incredibly proud of all of us standing up every single week. Sally left to comment about how wearing a whistle in your everyday activities out and about shows solidarity with the community. And how the immigrant owned businesses appreciate seeing us stand up for them. It would be great if we all got in the habit of wearing our whistles whenever we're out for solidarity and just in case.
