Thank you all for voting and being part of the smackdown of the century. Even here in Carver County, we may not have gotten rid of Emmer, but we got so close! This is the closest we have ever come.
All our candidates worked hard and were up against huge odds, as the money being thrown at defeating them was massive. I would open my mailbox and find three flyers a day talking about Dan and Joe and how they were pro-fraud. I am also happy that all the school board candidates supported by the teachers union won their seats.
To all of you who knocked on doors, made calls, had yard signs and supported our candidates, I say thank you.
The fight is not over. Take a breath, enjoy the win and then get back to it. Emmer is still in office. So is Trump, and he may now be a lame duck, but that does not mean he is powerless.
I also want to let Democrats know that we the people are not interested in business as usual. We want the Epstein files, we want indictments, we want justice for Renee Good and Alex Pretti, we want the camps closed and ICE gone. We want to stop the war on women and science. I will be reminding our elected officials of this, and I hope you join me.
I have been asked if the protests will continue, and my answer is, if you show up, it’s a protest! On Saturday, if you decide to continue, celebrate the win by waving flags and making signs thanking people for voting.
Kim Keefe is working with the Women’s March. Their focus will be on multiple issues, including passing the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The last few years have really shown that women do not have equal rights in the USA, and it is time to change that.
Please go to the refreshment table to talk to Kim and give her your contact info to become involved. Yes, men, you too! We need both men and women to make this a reality.
The last year and a half have been a continuous flood of frustration, consternation and rage, sprinkled with bafflement and sadness. We now have a chance to make it better, but it will take time and effort. I hope you will continue to be involved and support each other as we start this next chapter.
Keep resisting and keep protecting each other.
