Taking a Breath
Taking a moment to recharge while we keep showing up together
Today’s newsletter will be a short one. I, too, am tired.
The last many months have been difficult on a personal level, from losing my father to ICE activity in Minnesota the week I came back. I have been going non-stop, fighting ICE, volunteering at Latino Voices, and so much more. I try to take a deep breath and not let the news overwhelm me. I look for hope, and I see it every week when we all come together.
But these past months have taken a toll on me, and the barrage of news is affecting me too.
In the next few weeks, you will see less of me, and there will be fewer newsletters. I apologize for that. I need a little time to recharge. I will still have one newsletter per week, and yes, we still have the SW Protectors. You will see me at the protests, just not every time.
We have such amazing volunteers, and I am so thankful to them and to all of you. We are going to keep protecting democracy and standing up for what is right.
Kohl’s has asked that we leave parking by the front of their store for paying customers, so please try to keep the first several rows available.
The amazing Ivy has started a free clothing closet, but she needs your help. She is looking for several shelves for her garage to store all the donations. If you can, please Venmo her at @ivydawnjohnson so she can store and organize them. It would be really helpful, as several organizations have already reached out to her for clothes.
Ivy would also love help sorting and organizing. You can contact her via the Free Clothing Closet Facebook page. Or let me know, and I can put you in touch with her.
She is not accepting new clothes right now, as she needs storage racks first.
