Take a Breath, Find Some Joy
A summer reminder to recharge, stay engaged, and support our community
Hello, everyone!
It’s been a humid few days, and my vegetables and herbs are loving it. I have enough lettuce, mint, and basil to feed the neighborhood. Soon, my little tomatoes will be ready, and there is nothing like walking by the plant and popping one into your mouth.
Summer has so many wonderful things to offer in Minnesota. I know many of you are going to the cabin, relaxing at a lake or on a boat, barbecuing, and soaking it all in. I hope you are taking this time to grab some joy and find things that will sustain you when life gets rough. I also encourage you to turn off the news for a few days.
The continuous cycle of absolute madness is both overwhelming us and causing many of us to start turning a blind eye to it.
If you are worried that you will miss something, let me summarize what will probably happen during the five days you take a break:
Trump will bomb something and then say they are in talks again.
At least two government officials will say something that, in previous years, would have cost them their jobs but will now simply be shrugged off.
There will be another project that Trump is spending billions of our tax dollars on that will fail in some way.
Trump will insult a world leader, country, or ethnic group, and he will call us communists, “Dumocrats,” or something similar.
So, you will not miss anything. Take a breath. Recharge!
In the past month, I have almost passed out twice at the protest, so while the temperatures are above 80 degrees, I will not be there for the full event. I may stop by for a short while, and I apologize for not staying the whole time.
SW Protectors Updates
There will be no SW Protectors event on July 21. The next one will be August 4, and then we will return to twice a month in September.
Please go to the website for Adam Moore, as well as the websites for all our other candidates, and request a lawn sign. By law, even if you live in an HOA, you can now put one in your yard, and research shows that it does help. I have mine proudly on display!
Please remember to thank our amazing weekly volunteers, including Kim, who keeps us hydrated; Scott, Dan, and Charlie, who keep us safe; Dave, who brings our amazing sign and flag library, and his son, Corey; Joel, who greets you all with his cowbell; Jen and Max, who welcome so many of you; Paul, who takes pictures; and so many more.
Every one of you is amazing for showing up and taking time out of your life to do this. Don’t you love it when a big semi-truck drives by and honks its horn?
Enjoy the summer in any way you can, and get ready to vote in November!
