Singing for Hope, Standing Together
Community action, mutual aid, and what comes next.
A Note From Judith:
Last Saturday we protested in the sunshine. I wasn’t wearing a sweater, and it felt wonderful.
This Saturday we’ll be back in jackets, hats, and mittens but we’ll have hot cocoa and coffee to keep us warm.
The Resistance Singers will be joining us, and I hope you’ll join them in singing for hope.
On Tuesday, I asked everyone at SW Protectors if they wanted to write words of encouragement for the adults and children Latino Voices is supporting. As always, our community came through. We were able to place notes in every bag sent out with much-needed cleaning and hygiene products.
Latino Voices will continue their support as the ICE occupation continues. In Chaska alone, ICE was present every single day this week. Communities all across Carver County were affected. The needs, like ICE, have not left.
Please continue supporting Latino Voices by donating items at Sweet Salon (854 W 78th St., Suite 204, Chanhassen), or by purchasing items from our wish list. The list is updated several times a week as needs change.
In the coming weeks, I’d like to challenge you to pay close attention to the news. Consider adding new sources such as BBC, The Guardian, and CBC. Follow local reporters on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms. I appreciate Aaron Parnas’s daily updates, and Andrew Mercado does excellent local reporting.
Much of what passes for “news” today is infotainment. As more outlets come under ownership aligned with Trump supporters, censorship is becoming more common.
Think about that. One of the bedrocks of the United States is free speech and it is being eroded.

Sunday Protest
A new protest is now happening in Norwood Young America every Sunday (details below).
I hope to see you on Saturday.
To win this fight, we are going to have to do hard things. We may need to try new ways of communicating or change how we receive our news. We’ll need to meet new people, build community, and stand up for ourselves, our neighbors, and our country.
Are you ready?
Let’s do this.

Please do buy something to eat or drink, though, to support our venue, which is The Bellows restaurant and it’s located at 232 Pioneer Trail in Chaska.

The Resistance Singers will be perfect for the Chaska Protest on Saturday, February 21. Their chants affect me and are in my heart and soul. Here is one: "It's okay to change your mind. Show us your courage. Leave this behind. It's okay to change your mind. And you can join us, you can join us anytime." I will be back February 28.
Boundary Waters Canoe Area - I listened to a podcast with Heather Cox Richardson interviewing Sen. Tina Smith and she said Trump is trying to sell the rights to mine (toxic and hazardous form) in the boundary waters at the headwaters to a Chilean mining company and the vote will come before the Senate next week. Senator Smith says they need four Republican Senators to join with them to stop this.
