Show Up, Speak Out: Preparing for March 28
Latino Voices still has some needs
One of our amazing volunteers, Ken, had a wonderful idea for the next protest: gathering everyone wearing red knit hats for a large group photo. I love the idea; however, with warmer weather this weekend, winter hats may not be necessary. We may need to switch to summer gear instead.
No Kings Preparation
If you are a volunteer, or would like to volunteer, for the No Kings Protest on March 28, please stay after this week’s protest and gather in the Kohl’s parking lot to review plans.
If you have signs or flags you’d like to donate to our sign library, please see Dave in the blue vest.
As you begin thinking about where to stand during the No Kings protest, please be mindful of those who use walkers, have strollers, or have disabilities. If you’re able to walk a short distance, please do so and leave closer parking spaces for those who need them.
Latino Voices
Latino Voices is beginning to shift focus back to other services, but we still have a few more weeks of support ahead. This Sunday, we are especially in need of:
Toilet paper
Shampoo
Deodorant
We are also continuing to collect prom dresses, men’s formal wear, and shoes to help teens have a memorable prom. Donations can be dropped off with Kim at the concession stand or at my car.
As national events continue to unfold, many of us feel a deep urgency to speak out. We need to push back and show the world that this leadership does not represent us or our values.
Closer to home, a judge has sided with the administration in a case involving Liam, the young boy in the bunny hat who was taken by ICE and sent to Texas before Minnesotans fought to bring him back. ICE activity continues in our communities. We protest for those who cannot.
See you Saturday.
