Hi, y’all!
This week has been terribly busy for me, so I’m going to keep this one short.
Yes, we are on for tomorrow, 1-2 pm, as usual. The forecast says no precip and low 80s, so it should be a pleasant day for protesting.
Aldi’s Parking Lot
JoAnne noted an Aldi’s delivery driver getting annoyed at us for parking in the small lot behind Aldi’s. Let’s be respectful of the nearby businesses and mindful that they routinely have deliveries that need to be made.
Please avoid parking in that small lot behind Aldi’s:
No Kings Day
Save the date: October 18. For this big one, we will be protesting at our usual location from 12:30-2 pm, just like the last No Kings Day.
Share this newsletter with those you have not yet convinced to sign up so we can build our numbers in anticipation of that day.
I’m planning to create some marketing materials this weekend for you to share to spread the word about our No Kings Day protest.
Wave & Call
Cathy, one of our Saturday protesters recommended that we decide and emphasize one issue a week that we pick up the phone and call Emmer and our other politicians to voice our concerns. Read Mike’s entire post about it with the details.
Peaceful Resistance
We Minnesotans know all too sadly the devastation felt as a result of political violence.
So we condemn the assassination of Charlie Kirk, even if we abhor his views and what he stood for.
We cannot allow violence to be a solution to our political differences.
Pushback Works
You may have noticed that Trump is no longer talking about sending troops to Chicago; now he wants to send them to Memphis.
Why, after so much bluster about Chicago, has TACO suddenly changed his tune?
Because Chicago said NO, in no uncertain terms.
From the Governor to the Mayor to the city’s citizens, they said no way.
It falls to us to continue to say NO. Loudly. Forcefully. En masse an every time.
It has been a privilege to be able to say NO with you every week.
Hello, I would like to suggest that we have a theme for one of our upcoming protests, No More Deaths, No More Weapons of War (or something similar). We could invite the local leaders of Students Demand Action to lead the way and also Moms Demand Action. The leaders of the Students Demand Action at Chaska and Chanhassen HS sound pretty organized and maybe we could reach out to them. It would be a good way to get more young people involved. What do you think?
