Last Saturday it rained, and still 90 of us showed up with umbrellas and persistence. What an amazing group of people!
On Saturday, October 17th, we are doing one more BIG protest: No Kings, Vote Early. It will be from 1–2:30 p.m., and it is, besides going to the polls, our last time to show the nation that this regime will not stand.
All over the United States, we will stand up and say no to golden ballrooms and war, the militarization of our streets, mass surveillance, and the taking away of rights and protections from people.
On the 17th of October, we are also going to say yes. Yes to building relationships and communities, yes to protecting all people, yes to making sure that all people can afford to live, work, and have fulfilling lives.
To help with this, we are also holding a food drive. Last year’s food drive was the largest one-day collection Bountiful Baskets ever had, and I hope to surpass that this year. There will be donation drop-off sites in 3–4 different areas where you can drive up, drop off your donations, and then go protest. I will be posting further instructions closer to the event.
October is my birthday month, so we are calling it Judith’s Birthday Food Drive.
If you have volunteered before, you will be getting an email from me asking if you can do it again. If you never have, please consider volunteering!
On Tuesday, please come to the SW Protectors meeting at the Golden Kitchen at 6:30 to meet with Senate District 48 candidate Dan Kessler. I will be talking about the resurgence of ICE and plans to continue to make a difference.
