ICE Hits Home
St. Paul ICE raid; one of our own testifies before the Carver County Board of Commissioners
Saint Paul ICE Raid
You have likely seen the news of the ICE raid of the Bro-Tech headquarters in Saint Paul on Tuesday.
One of the men detained in the raid is the father of a brilliant young woman who served as an intern for my company two years ago via a Capitol Pathways internship sponsored by the Citizens League.
They are not going after the “worst of the worst.” They are going after the best of the best.
Words fail the outrage I feel over this lawless kidnapping of our peaceful immigrant neighbors. Now it has hit close to home.
Karla Alarcon Hernandez has set up a GoFundMe account to support her family and her father’s legal defense during this unimaginable crisis. Please read her story and give what you can.
ICE Opposition Testimony
Speaking of ICE: One of our own, Monique, recently gave inspiring testimony before the Carver County Board of Commissioners to express her opposition to Sheriff Jason Kamerud’s “decision to contract with ICE to provide cells for detaining migrants picked up by ICE.”
Monique testified to her experience witnessing the abduction of an immigrant by ICE in the federal Whipple building at Fort Snelling.
Earlier this month I wrote about the need for us all to find a higher gear and do more, as Monique has done.
Carver County Commissioners
Monique took advantage of the public comments portion of the Carver County Board of Commissioners meetings. You can, too.

We've been working all week on getting whistle kits ready to hand out this weekend. These actions need to be called out and brought into the light, the cruelty must be stopped. We are keeping fascism at bay, but only because we are all fighting. That's why I'm dedicated to standing up throughout the winter, we can't give up the fight now. Keep pushing, resisters!
